Proton Exchange Membranes and Membrane Electrode Assemblies Laboratory



Briefing:

The main research targets this lab are the key components of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), i.e. proton exchange membranes (PEM) and membrane electrode assemblies (MEA). The research work includes: (1) Syntheses of proton exchange resins, (2) Fabrication and modifications of PEM, (3) Formulation of catalyst inks and catalyst layer fabrication techniques, (4) Catalyst layer microstructure design, (5) Unit cell performance test, durability and life test.

Current Research:

1.High temperature (Temp= 140 ~200℃) PEMFC MEA- Preparation of high temperature polybenzimidazole (PBI) and PBI modified proton exchange membrane assemblies research & development.
2.Medium temperature (Temp= 100 ~130℃) PEMFC MEA - Preparation of medium temperature perfluorocarbon sulfonic acid (PFSA)/ inorganic nano-particles blend proton exchange membrane assemblies research & development.
3.Low temperature (Temp= RT ~ 90℃) PEMFC membrane electrode assembly - Preparation of low temperature PFSA proton exchange membrane assemblies.
4.Low temperature (Temp= RT ~ 90℃) DMFC membrane electrode assembly - PFSA proton exchange membrane assemblies research & development.
